Leading with Lightness

Why do horses follow the lead mare in nature?

  • She conveys safety
  • She is calm and confident
  • She communicates clearly
  • She is trustworthy
  • She is responsible for showing the way

When you learn to embody the qualities of a lead mare, your horse will want to be with you and allow itself to be led by you.

Naturally, we also need to integrate the qualities of the lead stallion. The key is the ability to lead situationally.
