Living my Passion
Hi, I'm Marina Parris
Here you will read about my transformative path with horses. Since more than 15 years I am living my dream as an equine-facilitated coach and trainer helping horse owners more easily communicate and lead their horses.
My Path with Horses
Sometimes there are detours on the way to one's dreams. But my experiences have made me the person I am today, and allow me to share the wisdom gained along the way with others. I worked for major international companies for over 12 years accompanying people through change processes before horses came into my life.
I was 35 years young at the time. I spent a month working on a farm with disabled children and horses. What I observed there in the interaction between horse and human touched me deeply.
A Turning Point in my Life
This experience was a turning point in my life. A few years later I took the opportunity to realize my childhood dream of working together with animals and people.
I spent the next three years in jeans and cowboy boots on ranches like La Cense France and Montana/USA, Parelli Center in Colorado, Furnace Creek Stables in Nevadain order to live with horses and learn from them. After these three years, I brought back a young Quarter Horse named Hummer to Switzerland.
Life on these ranches, the training of young horses, as well as real horsemen such as Ray Hunt and the books from Bill and Tom Dorrancestrongly influenced how I interact with horses. I really learnt to see the world from the horse's perspective.
Eponaquest and Wild Horses
When I will still in Montana, I discovered a book from Linda Kohanov, a pioneer in equine-facilitated learning in the U.S. What I read in her book inspired me so much that I went to her place in Arizona in 2010 and 2011 to become an Eponaquest Instructor. I also did further training with Linda attending her workshops on the «Power of the Herd» and «Sentient Communication», followed by the «Master Herder Apprenticeship – Socially Intelligent Leadership».
Later I visited the wild horses in Bosnia-Herzegovina twice to observe and learn from them.
Earlier I had the chance to observe wild mustangs in the US on horseback.
Humans and Horses
My aim is for people to get to know themselves better through working with horses and to recognize and live out their true potential.
Life will become more meaningful and joyful.
Horses still have an untapped potential to support human development. I am very grateful for my wonderful horses Hummer, Riverdance, Saifur, and Reina and also those horses who have passed on (Redondo and Ribana). They are my friends and teachers.
One of my visions is to help improve the quality of life for horses. In my lessons I help riders become aware of what they think and how they act influence the horse's willingness to be with them. To reach a larger audience, I have also published two books and in 2023 created a magazine.
My Teachers and Friends
Hummer “Black Diamond”
Hummer is a very wise and confident soul. Our journey together began in 2004 in Montana on a ranch where I was training young horses. During this time, I developed such a wonderful relationship with him that I brought him to Switzerland Easter 2006.
He is my greatest teacher and has helped me develop as a person (and still does), and I am very grateful to him for that. Over the many years, he has also accompanied countless people in their development.
Since October 2024, he has been enjoying his retirement as a big thank you for the many years as a loyal companion/co-trainer, always by my side. Now we spend our time grazing, walking and often just being while I enjoy his presence.
Riverdance
Riverdance is a highly sensitive and very self-confident mare - and a true "lady".
Thanks to her beauty, she gets away with a lot. Riverdance demands very clear communication and requires your full attention. If your thoughts wander, she does the same. Then the connection is lost, and she finds something better to do with her time on.
Riverdance enjoys being together with kids. She is a dream to ride and I can usually guide her through visualisation and breathing.
Saifur
Saifur is an older stallion I adopted a few years ago. He is going onto 30 years old and enjoys his life in a boys herd and spending time on the pasture. This horse is just amazing at his age and I love him dearly.
He enjoys it when you spend time with him, either going for walks or just hanging out together while he grazes or simply relaxes.
Reina
Together with a friend of mine, we adopted Reina in the summer of 2024 when her owner moved to South America.
She is a gentle and highly sensitive mare with a lot of life experience. Reina has also touched people's hearts and accompanied many people in their coaching experience with her.
Redondo
Redondo was a true gentleman as a stallion. I adopted him together with Saifur in August 2020. Redondo worked with a few clients before he unexpectedly passed away three months later.
Ribana
I adopted Ribana together with a friend of mine when her owner passed away. She was an older horse and we enjoyed a few wonderful years together.
